municipal water challenges

municipal water challenges

Water is an integral part of your home, and of the wellbeing of your family. Water affects the health of your body at the cellular level, as well as your skin and hair. The longevity of your appliances, plumbing and fixtures is dependent upon the quality of your water. Although once a popular solution, bottled water is no longer a suitable alternative because of the catastrophic waste impact it has on the environment. Common municipal water issues are :

Water Hardness: Water Hardness: Leaves glasses and silverware cloudy and water-stained from dissolved calcium, magnesium, iron and other minerals causing soaps and shampoos to underperform. Hard water stains on fixtures and appliances creating build-up in kettles, pipes, coffee makers and all other water using appliances shortening their lifespan.

Bad Taste and Odours: Caused by Chlorine or other Industrial Chemicals causing possible health concerns and bad tasting water.

Drinking Water Quality Concerns: Chemicals, heavy metals and lead causing potential health issues in your drinking water.

Hardness / Minerals: Calcium and magnesium minerals build up leaving scale where it doesn’t belong. At Excalibur our water softener solutions improve the water throughout your entire home while protecting your appliances and fixtures.

Iron: Dissolved and non-dissolved iron can leave red/orange stains on your sinks, tubs, and toilets, which is extremely difficult to remove. Iron can also cause bacteria to grow and let off an unpleasant “rotten-egg” smell.

Dirt and Sediment: Dirt and sediment is common in well water or surface water that hasn’t been processed through a treatment facility. The removal of dirt and sediment from your water will greatly improve the efficiency and lifespan of your appliances.

Sulphur: Hydrogen sulfide (Sulphur) is a naturally occurring gas that causes an odor that can be described as that “rotten egg smell”. At high concentrations, it will oxidize in the water when it is released from a faucet and will cause a black stain. Concentrations as low as 0.5ppm can be detected by smell.

farm / dugout challenges

When you live in a rural area away from the city your water supply will come from either a dug or drilled well which utilizes a pumping system to provide water to your home that can have many issues that will require treatment. Most common dugout water issues are hard water, bacteria, sediment, acidic low pH, algae, and many others.
